The Barça Academy has been formed to participate at the AA competition level within District 5 in Utah County in 2008-09. It was created to provide an accelerated learning environment for players to enhance their skills and love of the game. The team formed by combining players from two of the better performing challenger U8 teams. Those chosen to participate have demonstrated a level of athleticism and soccer potential greater than that of the average recreational player. The Barça Academy takes its name from the famous FC Barcelona in Spain. Barcelona has widely been known through the years for its development of youth players and for its superior possession game and attacking creativity. Some of the world’s greatest players such as Lionel Messi, Eto'o, Daniel Alves , Andres Iniesta, and Xavi currently play for Barcelona.
