Aime Critchfield scored 10 minutes in and Storm didn't look back in their 3-0 semifinal win Thursday. Megan Sackett scored five minutes into the second half and Mary Mitton tallied on a late free kick for the final margin. MaKenzie Empey earned her third shutout in State Cup play. Storm looked sharp controlling the game with their simple possesion game. The semifinal win gives 94 Premier their finals appearance. The win also assured a Far West Regional Appearance as Utah gets both finalists into Regionals.

Southwest Region Futsal Championship - Going to Disneyland!
Over MLK weekend Celtic Storm
won the Southwest Region Futsal
Championship in Salt Lake City. In pool play Storm won two games
over the Firebirds and Utah Rush by a combined score of 19-6. In
the semifinal, Storm easily ousted a team from Modesto, California
8-0. In the final, Storm found itself behind 3-2 to Samba
with six minutes remaining. However the girls were not about
to give up a trip to Disneyland and the Futsal Nationals this summer.
Megan Sackett quickly put in the equalizer and in overtime Storm
poured in three more goals for the 6-3 victory. Now its off to Disneyland
and a chance to win the National Championship in Anaheim, California

U11's Take 2nd at Sparta Cup
The weekend of August 14 the U11 Celtic Storm had
a great tournament at the Sparta Cup played at the Cottonwood Heights
Complex. We finished with a 3-1 record losing a heartbreaker in
the finals. The tournament started with a bang on Wednesday as we
defeated the Sparta Premier 1-0. Megan Sackett scored off a perfect
pass from Mary Mitton to get the lead and our defense fought off
a frantic rally to hang on for the win. Goalkeeper Saundra Hall
made several outstanding saves and our defenders were tremendous.
Katie Balser and Mary Mitton both showed fantastic hustle in preserving
the shutout win. The next game was a little easier against Impact
Black. We won 6-0 and had an outstanding offensive performance.
We had 2 goals each by McKenzie Wells and our guest player Maria
Fuller. Hailey Ingram and Megan Sackett each chipped in one goal.
Our next opponent was Sparta Gold and resulted in a 2-0 victory
and a spot in the championship game. Kristen Bodine scored on a
penalty kick and McKenzie Wells added another goal for the victory.
Our defense was again outstanding with its third consecutive shutout.
In the championship game Saturday afternoon we lost 3-2 in a hard
fought overtime contest. Kristin Bodine gave us a 1-0 lead on an
early penalty kick. After the Crash tied the score Megan Sackett
took advantage when their keeper dropped the ball to score a second
goal to put us back in the lead. We gave up a late goal and lost
in overtime but it was a fantastic effort by all the players. Our
goalkeeper Saundra Hall was spectacular saving many shots that looked
like certain goals and our defense fought the entire game. Both
Kylee MacGillivary and Makenzie Wistisen put in a great effort and
thwarted many of the Crashes chances. Overall our entire team played
great and showed tremendous promise. We now look forward to the
Fall season and a continuation of our great play.
U11's Reach Pioneer Cup
Semifinals
Our U-11 team had its first taste of victory at the
Pioneer Cup tournament played over the 24th of July weekend. We
started out Thursday morning with a decisive 7-0 victory over the
Firebirds. In that game our defense didn't allow a shot on goal
and we had several outstanding offensive performances. We had 2
goals each from Megan Sackett, Ashli Schulz, and Ashleigh Warner
and 1 goal from Mary Mitton. In our second game on Thursday, against
Sparta Gold, we had a much more difficult contest but we prevailed
with a hard fought 2-1 victory. Megan Sackett and Katie Balser each
scored a goal and we again had another tremendous defensive effort.
In the semifinal game on Saturday morning we were matched against
Sparta Premier. We led 1-0 until the final minutes but our luck
ran out and we lost 2-1. We had a great team effort and everyone
played hard but we came up just a little short. In our first competition
against our age group we proved that Celtic Storm U-11 is a team
to be feared. We have several offensive weapons and a very stingy
defense. With hard work this team will go a long way. Great job
girls and let's win the next one.
