Larkin goes full 90 for Sol

Jennifer Rockwood to Direct Club Academy
Celtic Storm is proud to announce that Jennifer Rockwood, head coach of the BYU women’s team, will take over the Celtic Storm Academy for the 2009-2010. Rockwood brings a wealth of experience and success as she takes over the leadership of the Academy. She has develped several exceptional players including a long list of All-American;a such as Katie Larkin, Jaime Rendich Beck, Aleisha Rose and Michelle Jensen. Five of her players have been selected to play in professional women’s soccer (four in the WUSA) including Celtic Storm Alum Katie Larkin, recently drafted 19th overall in the Women’s Professional Soccer League by the Los Angeles Sol.

Rockwood will direct the Celtic Storm Academy on the field with the girls to help with their training. We are pleased to welcome Rockwood to the Celtic Storm family.



U16's and U17's advance to State Cup Semifinals

On Tuesday Celtic Storm 92 Premier (U17's) defeated Utah Force 2-1 to advance to the State Cup semifinals on Thursday. On Monday, 93 Premier (U16's) also advanced to the semifinals with a 4-2 win over Arsenal. Both teams will play their semifinal matches at 6:30 on Thursday at the Lakeside complex in Orem.

Alumni Receive Multiple 2008 Honors

Senior forward Katie Larkin was named 3rd team NSCAA/adidas All-America for the third time in her career.  Larkin was also named to the NSCAA/adidas All-West Region 1st Team.  Other NSCAA/adidas awards went to senior defender Jessica Harmon-Carter and junior midfielder Mikala Wilkes who were named 2nd Team All-West Region while senior Deborah Benson-Vigil and junior Kelly Isleib were named 3rd Team All-West Region. Larkin debuts in WPS inaugural game
On Sunday, Katie Larkin played the entire 2nd half of Women's Professional Soccer's inaugural match at the Home Depot Center in Los Angeles seen live on Fox Soccer Channel. Larkin nearly scored a few minutes into the 2nd half but her one timer off a cross was deflected by teammate Shannon Boxx. Larkin showed off her skill later in the half as she beat the defense to the endline where she played a beautiful ball into the box. Larkin is part of an LA Sol roster loaded with several of women's soccers international stars.

Larkin Drafted by Los Angeles Sol
Storm's Katie Larkin (above right) was drafted by the Los Angeles Sol as the 19th pick in the Women's Professional Soccer league draft.  Larkin, a six-time State Cup Champion with Celtic Storm and 3-time All-American at BYU will now play alongside Marta, the 3-time FIFA world Player of the Year from Brazil. Storm players receive All-State honors
Orem's Maggie Plothow (4A) and Timpanogos teammates Angelica Dickson and Marissa Nimmer (5A) were named 1st Team All-State. Hilary Smith (Orem) was named to the 2nd Team while Maris Hamblin (Lone Peak) and Tanisia Wilson (Orem) were named Honorable Mention.

Storm players among high school scoring leaders

Gel Dickson's 26 goals were good enough for the 2nd most scored among the states big schools (5A & 4A) Dickson's Timpanogos teammate Marissa Nimmer's 17 goals rank in the top 10 in 5A. Orem's Maggie Plothow and Tanisia Wilson's 10 goals apiece have them among the Top 10 scorers in 4A.
